Scores of French police armed with tranquilliser guns and assisted by a helicopter have resumed the search for a tiger on the loose near Paris.

Approximately a dozen soldiers from a nearby army base are preparing to join the hunt for the animal that has eluded all attempts at capture since being spotted prowling around a supermarket car park on Thursday.

Authorities still have no idea where the tiger came from.
