The dialogue between Hizbullah and the Future party is proceeding despite the chaos caused by some sides; where for instance on Sunday, protests were held in Abdel Hamid Karameh square in Tripoli led by MP Khaled al-Daher, in protest to the removal of political banners and photos, [a step applied allover Lebanon as a result of an agreement during the Hizbullah-Future talks].
According to al-Akhbar newspaper, MP Khaled al-Daher and a number of clerics in Tripoli rejected the security measure which was taken to alleviate sectarian pressure in Lebanon by removing all political banners and slogans in the country. The paper noted that the step carried out by the Lebanese security forces on Sunday in Tripoli was about to cause a crisis, after the objection of al-Daher and some clerics.
The Lebanese daily quoted a source in the Future party as saying "al-Daher has a foreign agenda according to which he is trying to move in Tripoli, different from the calculations of the others who invested the action, not to mention an attempt to embarrass Interior Minister Nuhad al-Mashnouq to put the accomplishment in the dim light.
Sources told al-Akhbar newspaper ‘The words of al-Daher bothered the allies of Future party, which stressed that his rhetoric revives sectarian tension in the region.
On the same note, al-Anbaa newspaper said that the attitude of al-Daher is to hamper the effort of interior minister Nuhad al-Mashnouq, wondering if head of the Future Party Saad Hariri will interfere to stop the ongoing conflict.
On another note, al-Jomhouriya newspaper said that French Foreign Ministry envoy Jean-Francois Girault will deliver a message on behalf of his country to the Lebanese Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai, that his country supports the renewing of support of the Vatican. The source also said that Girault said he hopes that Rai would re-launch a new initiative towards the Christian leaderships in Lebanon to creat a dynamic movement on the Presidential elections file.
Moreover, As-Safir newspaper revealed that the Presidential elections was the major topic Lebanese Prime Minister Tammam Salam discussed with the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, on the sideline of the Munichs Security Conference on Saturday.
The paper pointed out that the Lebanese PM hoped that Iran would help Lebanon with its presidential impasse, just like ‘Iran had helped Lebanon to form a cabinet after 11 months of troubles and impediments".
Also, according to As-Safir, the two had touched on the regional situation, where Zarif assured that Tehran is keen on having good relations with Saudi Arabia, noting that Iran has more than once taken initiatives towards Riyadh, but without any positive response in return.
Touching on another file, as-Safir Lebanese daily pointed out that the Lebanese stance through boycotting the Summit on Fighting Terrorism and Extremism to be held in Washington on 18, 19, and 20 February was because "Israel" is invited to take part; a stance which according to the source, was understood by some Arab countries, especially Iraq.
Sources pointed out that it is no longer a secret that "Israel" has been directly and indirectly supporting the terrorist groups such as al-Nusra Front, to which it gives arms and ammunition, and supports it by providing aids and support lines as well as medical services in the Qunaitra region.
