UN: More than 500 Killed in Yemen Fighting, Thousands Flee
Minutes after a deal was announced from Lausanne between the P5+1 countries and Iran, new media was jammed with comments and analysis on the matter. One sure thing is that the deal is a victory to Iran, as it has declared to the entire world through the deal that Iran is a sovereign country that was able to defend its rights, and not defeated by the West through the restriction of a nuclear program since Iran never sought a nuclear program except for peaceful purposes.
With a tentative agreement reached, the two sides will write the Joint Plan Deal by the 30th of coming June.
Meanwhile, the US-backed aggression on Yemen is ongoing, with more innocent civilians being killed. On the Lebanese level, the reflection of the nuclear agreement echoed among officials, also papers discussed the dialogue between Hizbullah and the Future party as well as other domestic files of concern to the country in this sensitive time.
Saudi Arabia Assault against Yemen Failure --- As-Safir
Western Diplomatic sources said that Ansarullah are putting pressure on Aden considering it is the weakest point in Saudi strategies, said As-Safir. The Lebanese daily quoted the Ansarullah spokesman Mohammad Abdel Salam as saying that the fighting in Aden demonstrated the failure of the Saudi military assault on the country, adding that the triumphs in Yemen puzzle and silence the aggressor.
Moreover, the media spokesperson of the Ansarullah Ahmad Hamed stated that the entire city of Aden is in the hands of the revolutionary movement now, pointing out that the ‘Yemeni forces are moving towards the Yemeni-Saudi borders in order to preserve it."
UN: More Than 500 Killed in Saudi Air Riads --- The Daily Star
The UN humanitarian chief says an estimated 519 people have been killed the past two weeks in Yemen's violence, many of them civilians and 90 of them children.
The deaths come as Saudi Arabia and its allies launched an air campaign on March 25 in support of President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi and his loyalists claiming they target revolutionary Houthis.
Netanyahu Afraid of Nuclear Deal --- An-Nahar
An-Nahar newspaper quoted sources on "Israeli" Prime Minister's fear from the tentative deal on a nuclear deal with Iran based on current framework, saying it will "threaten the survival of Israel", said PM Benjamin Netanyahu, warning it would increase the risk of a "horrific war."
In a phone conversation with the US President, the "Israeli" Prime Minister expressed his opposition to a framework agreement reached with Israel on Thursday.
Under the terms of the preliminary deal Iran reached in Switzerland on Thursday, Iran agreed to reduce its uranium enrichment capabilities by two-thirds and keep only 6,104 of its first-generation centrifuges.
Tehran agreed not to enrich uranium over the 3.67 percent mark for at least 15 years. It also made concessions to reduce its current stockpile of low-enriched uranium and not build any new facilities for 15 years, and to convert its highly secured facility at Fordow so that it would no longer enrich uranium.
Al-Akhbar
Ibrahim al-Amine wrote on Friday in al-Akhbar newspaper that the nature of this world is a nature of ‘winner-loser' since old times, and those with closed eyes are the only ones to see that the ending is the result of a compromise.
According to the writer's analysis, "what happened in Lausanne on Thursday is the result of an ongoing confrontation since the collapse of the Soviet Union and the taking over of the West - led by the United States - to managing the world affairs without any objection or deterrence. As a result to this confrontation the West yielded!"
He went on to say that many in the region are looking for statements and comments to say that Iran is the loser, but if they put the grudges of these losers aside, all we can hear is the justifications of the US President Barack Obama on the deal with Iran.
In brief, he clearly said: We tried everything with Iran and we stand before two choices: either war or deal, we chose the deal!
Obama Netanyahu in Rift on Iran Deal --- The National Journal
According to the National Journal, Obama acknowledged friction between his administration and "Israeli" Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the handling of negotiations. "It's no secret the "Israeli" prime minister and I don't agree about whether the United States should move forward with a peaceful resolution to the Iranian issue," he said.
"If, in fact, Netanyahu is looking for the most effective way to ensure Iran doesn't get a nuclear weapon, this is the best option." Obama said he will speak with Netanyahu later Thursday.
Obama, according to the source, offered a warning to members of Congress, some of whom-specifically Senate Republicans-the White House has accused of interfering with ongoing talks.
"If Congress kills this deal, not based on expert analysis and without offering any reasonable alternative, then it's the United States that will be blamed for failure of diplomacy," he said.
