Gulf Countries Reject UN Call for Urgent Yemen Ceasefire

Newspapers on Tuesday focused on the ongoing Saudi war on Yemen, with its repercussions and more killing of civilians, and the hugest explosion rocking the poverty-hit country after Saudi jets dispersed cluster bombs before hitting the target this time.
Cluster Bombs in Yemeni War --- Al-Akhbar
A huge explosion rocked the Yemeni capital on Monday, breaking the glass of buildings that are a few kilometers away from the explosion site. The attack has been described as the most aggressive since the beginning of the Saudi war on Yemen. Witnesses told al-Akhbar newspaper they saw a huge rocket in the air moments before the explosion. Political and Media activist, Nabil Soufi, told al-Akhbar newspaper that evidence show it was not only one rocket that hit the target, but assured that war jets had dropped cluster bombs ten minutes before hitting the target.
According to the analyst, after the Saudi failure in finding targets or achieving any goals in this war, the only solution before Saudi Arabia was to claim they targeted an arms depot by creating such a huge explosion.
No European Support for Saudi War --- As-Safir
A European Diplomatic source told As-Safir newspaper that due to differences in stances on the European draft eventually made it seem they will adopt an indirect support to the ‘coalition' air raids, as a pretext to restore the so-called ‘legitimate' authority, especially as the Europeans see ousted Yemeni president Abd Rabo Mansour Hadi as the ‘legitimate president'.
But according to the source, such a stance is not possible anymore, especially after talks between ministers, who see that there will be no European united stance on supporting the attacks on Yemen.
Stances & Positions
Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad said during a meeting with Iran's Foreign Mnister Zarif that Syria and Iraq are fighting terrorism on behalf of the whole world, stressing that all countries should work hard to stop this expansion that threatens international security and stability.
He called on Saudi Arabia to immediately halt its attack on Yemen, adding that such an attack serves US-"Israeli" interests in the region. He also pointed out there should be efforts to find an unconditional peaceful solution in Yemen.
