The group's head, Hisham Azizi - known as Abu Hafs al-Baluchi - and two other members were killed in the province's southern Baftan region following a successful security operation.

The chief of the Iranian border guards, Raham Habibi indicated that "the junta was formed by the financial and logistical support and guidance of Western and Arab terrorists in the region last year with the aim to destabilize security and carry out assassinations and bombings in the southeastern part of the country."

He explained in an interview on Thursday, that a number of members of the terrorist organization had gone into hiding and fled the country as well as the southern provinces.

In a like manner, Habibi added that due to "security efforts, a number of the group's members have been captured as investigations concerning the death of Hisham Azizi will be initiated"; pointing out that "a number of weapons, grenades and explosives in the possession of the terrorist group have been seized."

Habibi also stressed that "the Islamic Republic of Iran and the ministry's strategy is to enforce sustainable security in the region as it considers that regional security is enhanced through cooperation among all the countries in the region."

Furthermore, the chief of the border guards stated that "given the direct intervention of the intelligence services of some countries via financing and arming the terrorist group, Iran reserves the right to follow up the issue at the international level."

Hence, he explained that "the activities of Ansar al-Furqan terrorist group focused more on the assassinations and attacks on bases, the assassination of supporters of Iran as well as targeting economic centers."

With regard to the death of the so-called Jaish-ul-Adl member via an intelligence process, Habibi confirmed that "a spokesman for the group Said Turkmen - also known as Mullah Ma'az - was killed on the seventh of April at nearly 9 - 10 p.m. in front of his home in Karachi, due to his previous engagement in several operations against the Iranian army's border guards troops."
