Negotiations of 7 Major Countries in Progress, Time Does Not Determine Fate of Deal
While Lebanon's major woe is -at the moment-the presidential impasse, Iran reached an end to its 12-year stand-off concerning its nuclear program, a topic which made the headlines of newspapers.
Mistranslation; a Major Concern in the Deal --- AS-SAFIR
As-Safir newspaper said on Monday that ‘logistic problems stood in the way of declaring a deal in Vienna that would end the 12-year stand-off between Iran and the P5+1 countries on the nuclear program.'
The 100-page draft is being revised and re-read by all sides. According to the paper, the Iranians were very careful about ‘linguistic traps' including calling Iran's nuclear program before the deal ‘illegitimate activities'. They were very careful about words that could hold dual-meaning, and looked into the difference between the English and the French translation.
An Iranian official close to Iran's negotiating team says the country has reached a "good deal" with the P5+1.
Meanwhile, Western diplomats have confirmed to foreign media outlets that the talks have reached a conclusion, and that negotiating sides have sealed an agreement
Journalists covering the talks have been transported to the United Nations [UN] headquarters in Vienna for a photo opportunity with ministers at the talks.
Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Yukiya Amano just made an announcement to the media outside Palais Coburg, the venue of the latest talks between Iran and the P5+1.
Releasing Frozen Iranian Assets in Deal --- An-Nahar
An-Nahar newspaper said that the nature of issues about which the experts are careful are of legal and technical issues, and are mainly concerned with the execution of the deal as a means of releasing frozen Iranian assets and accounts approximately worth one hundred billion dollars.
According to the paper, this is a major concern because the process itself is a complicated issued that requires many legal steps. Sources close to the talks also assured that the two sides were able to reach an agreement on the arms embargo imposed on Iran, yet no details of the agreement have been revealed so far.
The deal would, according to sources, allow Iran to export arms to its allies in the region. An-Nahar highlighted that with the past few days that gave birth to the deal between Iran and the P5+1 countries, "Israel's" Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu started a Farsi language twitter, through which he tweeted that this deal "would pave the way for Iran to obtain nuclear bombs and billions of dollars for terrorism," and that "there should be no diplomatic approach towards Iran especially as it organizes hatred rallies against the US on Tehran's streets."
Terrorist Groups Taking Civilians Human Shields --- Al-Binaa
On another note, well-informed sources told al-Binaa newspaper that the operations taking place in Syria were ‘cleansing operations', all the way until Shallah, which is considered as a strategic region that looks over a residential area known as Koukou hill. According to the sources, the Syrian army and the resistance have succeeded in establishing control over almost 70% of the Zabadani area whilst the armed terrorist groups fled outside the city towards the barrens and valleys.
Another source highlighted that it has been difficult to penetrate the military posts of the terrorist groups because they are set up in residential areas in Zabadani. The groups, according to the sources, have been taking advantage of the fact that the Syrian army and resistance forces try their best to avoid residential areas in order to avoid any civilian casualties.
The militants, according to the source, have been using citizens as human shields in their battle.
Hizbullah and the Syrian army managed on Monday to gain control of the Sultani neighborhood in southeastern Zabadani in the Damascus western countryside, killing and injuring scores of terrorists. They gained control of the al-Huda mosque in the city and blocked the main crossing which links Zabadani with Madaya.
It's worth noting that some satellite TV channels stated that the al-Huda mosque was damaged as a result of the Syrian army's operations, but the footage refutes this claim. Hizbullah and the Syrian army later repelled a terrorist attack on the liberated Sultani neighborhood.
