Strange claims are coming from one of the few men who set foot on the moon.

Apollo Astronaut Claims Aliens Prevented Cold War Nuclear War

Edgar Mitchell, who was part of the Apollo 14 crew in 1971, said that we could thank aliens for preventing a nuclear war between America and Russia, the Daily Mirror reported.

Alien speak is nothing new for Mitchell. He has been outspoken about aliens ever since he walked on the moon.

Mitchell grew up in New Mexico, near Roswell and the White Sands military base where the first nuclear bomb was detonated in 1945.

He apparently told the paper that he saw UFO's flying over missile bases and the nuclear facility, the Mirror reported.

"They wanted to know about our military capabilities," Mitchell said.

"My own experience talking to people has made it clear the ETs had been attempting to keep us from going to war and help create peace on Earth."

He added that other officers from Pacific military bases told him that aliens shot down test missiles.

Experts, not unexpectedly, are refuting Mitchell's claims, saying that Mitchell has not experienced the events himself, but rather was told the events by others, the Mirror reported.

Mitchell won't name names on who told him about the peace-loving aliens.
