Lebanese Newspapers on Monday morning followed up on the popular movement that has come closer to the parliament building in down town Beirut, after skirmishes with the Lebanese security forces. On the regional level, papers focused on the Russian support to Syria and its results, while papers shed light on the strategic speech that the Houthi leader delivered at the time the army and popular committees make more advances.
Cabinet Illegitimate, Neglecting People's Needs --- AS-SAFIR
Former Minister Charbel Nahhas told As-Safir Lebanese daily on Monday that the protests on Sunday were successful. He pointed out that the violence perpetrated by some hooligans against the protestors comes as a disguised ‘government' plan to foil the peaceful protests, warning the government from its ongoing negligence of the people's basic needs. He also stressed that the current cabinet lacks legitimacy, underscoring the dire need for building a legitimate state that recognizes the rights of the citizens.
Lebanon has witnessed dozens of protests in the past two months over several issues atop of which was the crisis of waste disposal which hadn't been solved yet.
Waste Crisis to Exacerbate as Winter Arrives --- AL-LIWAA
Well-informed sources told al-Liwaa newspaper that the pressure in the Lebanese street and the guarantees given that the waste landfills in Ne'meh area and Akkar area would not be used might impede the waste crisis management plan, which would lead to the exacerbation of the waste crisis with the beginning of winter time.
Last Monday, Public Works and Transport Minister Ghazi Zeaiter sounded the alarm Monday about the consequences of the trash crisis during Lebanon's rainy season, warning that the piles of garbage could lead to flooding.
Some argue that the only solution to the crisis - which is becoming increasingly complicated by the day - is for the prime minister to call for the formation of a crisis group that includes relevant ministries and representatives of political forces inside and outside the government, unions of the concerned municipalities, civil society organizations that are following the issue and unbiased experts.
Russia Continues to Cooperate with Syria, Iran --- AS-SAFIR
Western security sources told As-Safir newspaper that the Russian operations will continue to take place in cooperation with the Syrians and Iranians in what it described as ‘defending the benign Syria'. According to the paper, the nature of the equipment implies that the targets are of far distance that are related to the Russian National Security in first place. Such would be targeting the so-called ‘Jihadist' groups, the terrorist groups of the Caucasus and Chechnya in North Syria at a distance that is relatively close to the Russian military base. Such armament and cooperation would also include targeting major goals in the South, where the extremist 'ISIL' groups are located.
Moreover, the Western sources said that the Russian president will soon determine the new road map through which Russia will fight 'ISIL' in Syria, and will most probably urge the regional countries involved in the Syrian war, particularly Turkey and Jordan to apply the UN Security Council Resolutions 2173 and 2170 that state these countries should prevent the terrorist groups from penetrating into Syria through their borders, as well as dry out all sources of terrorism and stop funding it.
‘Israel' Expresses Fears to Russia, Expresses Red Lines --- AL-AKHBAR
Political sources told al-Akhbar Lebanese daily on Monday that several ‘Israeli' military officials accompanied Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in his visit to Russia with one aim; that the Russian officials listen to the fears of ‘Israel' especially as the ‘Israeli' regime fears that any sensitive interaction between the ‘Israelis' and Russians can ignite a crisis between the two sides, of which ‘Israel' is keen on avoiding.
The paper quoted Walla news as saying that "Netanyahu will present to the Russian President the red lines and reservations ‘Israel' has on Syria; including any attacks or operations against the Zionist regime, transporting heavy arms to the Syrian army and Hizbullah especially those that break the current ‘military balance".
Russia is deploying forces and equipment to the Syrian coastal city of Latakia to prop up the Syrian army forces fighting 'ISIL' and other terrorist groups. This has raised the concerns of ‘Israel', which has in several occasions proved to have been supporting the terrorist groups particularly a-Nusra front.
The Wall Street Journal reported in March that ‘Israel' has been treating wounded al-Nusra fighters and then sending them back into the Golan to battle the Syrian army and the resistance forces.
But in general, ‘Israel's' collusion with 'al-Qaeda' has been virtually ignored by the American and mainstream media.
