Lebanese Lawmakers Scuffle during Committee Meeting
Local Editor
Lebanese Lawmakers Monday engaged in a fight following a sharp division that emerged between opposing factions at the beginning of Parliament's Energy Committee meeting.
Lawmakers Ziad Aswad, from the Change and Reform bloc, and Jamal Jarrah, from the Future bloc, shoved one another during a heated debate on the country's electricity crisis.
The ruckus unfolded after Committee head MP Mohammad Qabbani told Change and Reform MP Hikmat Deeb, who requested permission to speak, that he would always issue contradictory statements on the Committee.
Television footage showed Aswad and Jarrah pointing fingers at each other.
The meeting was suspended following the scuffle.
