Lebanon Threatened by Cholera

Lebanese newspapers discussed different topics on Monday, following-up on numerous Lebanese and regional matters. As the events in Syria and the region are in continuous development, different domestic files are still in stalemate, with the waste crisis becoming a threat as winter time has arrived and garbage still lingers on the streets.

AL-BINAA: Nasrallah Assures Eradication of Terrorism

Informed sources told al-Binaa newspaper that the two speeches delivered by head of Hizbullah Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah on the ninth and tenth of the Hijri month of Muharram carried several messages.

According to the source, the intense interaction between Sayyed Nasrallah and the audience proves he is a unique charismatic leader of our modern time, with the relation resembling that of major world leaders with their audience and people, such as Che Guevara or Jamal Abdel Nasser.

The source added that what makes the event even more intense and special is that the resistance has sacrificed many lives in the battle against terrorism and the US scheme in the region, making it an existential battle led by the resistance's allies, supported by Russia.

More important, according to the source, is that the leader of the resistance has assured people that the resistance axis will triumph in Lebanon and the region and that the takfiri project will prove to fail.

AS-SAFIR: Putin Assures Assad on Military, Political Support

As-Safir newspaper quoted Syrian opposition sources close to the Russians as saying that "the Russian President Vladmir Putin has presented political and military guarantees to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, as well as assurances that the Russian road map will not include any change concerning the position and authority of the Syrian President until early elections are conducted."

The source, according to the paper, also assured that during that period, the Russian military support for Syria will continue.

Moreover, the source said that Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev suggested in a meeting at the Kremlin that units of the so-called Free Syrian army can join the Syrian army, and cooperate with them in the war on terrorism. Furthermore, the source pointed out that it is early to talk about real progress in the Syrian file, especially with mutual distrust between the Russians and the Saudis, noting that progress can take place through unofficial talks through which new ideas are suggested, and if the Saudis agree to sit for talks.

The source highlighted that the Iranians had not called for dialogue because it is expected that if it did so, the Saudis would boycott the talks.

AL-BINAA: No Egyptian Initiative, Russian Priority in Syria

Well-informed sources told al-Binaa newspaper there is no such thing as an "Egyptian initiative" as reported by some media outlets, to resolve the deadlock in Lebanon. But the sources noted that the Egyptians are following up on the situation in Lebanon.

Furthermore, it said Lebanon is not likely to see a solution for its crises any time soon, as the road to any solution is blocked in absence of dialogue between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

"Russia advised Iran and Saudi Arabia to hold dialogue and arrive to a common understanding, but there will be no Russian initiative on the issue, because the current priority of Russia is not Yemen or elsewhere but in Syria," added the sources.
