Lebanese newspapers on Friday focused on the bomb attack that took place in Lebanon's Arsal, in what the dailies described as a liquidation war between al-Nusra front and "ISIL". Newspapers also highlighted the latest events in Syria, where heavy battles have been taking place between the different terrorist groups and the Syrian army.

DAILY SCOPE: Liquidation War Between al-Nusra, ’ISIL’ on Lebanese Territory!

AL-BINAA: "ISIL" Targets al-Nusra Leaders on Lebanese Territories

Well-informed sources told al-Binaa newspaper "the explosion that took place in Arsal on Thursday took place during a meeting that joined military leaders of al-Nusra Front with members of the juristic committee in Qalamoun headed by Sheikh Othman Mansour."

Sources from Arsal told the Lebanese daily "the explosion resulted from a bomb that was put in a Parta motorcycle that targeted the meeting."

The major target in this explosion, according to the source, was a main figure of al-Nusra Front known as ‘Abu Shamel', who was directly killed with two of his escorts while four others were seriously injured.

The source revealed that the attack was carried out by "ISIL" in a liquidation war against al-Nusra Front who had earlier paid allegiance to "ISIL" and retreated later on. It added that this comes as part of a conflict over influence in the region between the two extremist groups.

Sources said on Thursday that the Arsal explosion was due to an IED [improvised explosive device] placed in a commercial shop for Rayed Family, near the municipal building. Local news networks stated that chairman of Qalamoun Muslim Scholars Committee, Sheikh Othman Mansour, and others was killed in the bombing.

AS-SAFIR: Arsal Explosion; A War of Liquidation

Sources in Arsal area in Lebanon told As-Safir newspaper that the war taking place between "ISIL" and al-Nusra Front worries the inhabitants of the town and its outskirts, amid anticipations to what the reaction of al-Nusra Front might be in retaliation for the "ISIL" attack.

The newspaper quoted sources on Friday as saying that the "liquidation" war started off one month ago between the two extremist groups on Lebanese territories, whether inside the neighborhoods of Arsal or around the outskirts.

The newspaper also said there are two hypotheses to the attack; either a suicide bomber was riding a motorcycle with 8 to 10 kilograms of TNT or an explosive device planted in the motorcycle parked near the meeting place.

Sources told the paper the attack is a dangerous index to the fact that the battles between the two terrorist groups have officially transferred to Lebanon, pointing out that this requires the Lebanese state and its army to act seriously and hit these groups hard to prevent further terrorism and chaos in Lebanon.

AL-AKHBAR: Syrian Army Makes Advances despite Harsh Battles

Sources told al-Akhbar newspaper that Jund al-Aqsa extremist group intensified its attacks on the different posts of the Syrian army, which obliged the Syrian forces to retreat from the Mork city in Northern Hama. Yet, the sources said that the Syrian army made advances despite the hundreds of missiles that showered the area, where one thousand rockets hit the zone in less than 3 hours.

The Syrian forces, according to filed sources, enhanced their presence as the battalion of armored vehicles and tanks moved forward, taking control over different towns in Job al-Ahmar area, simultaneously advancing towards Northern Latakia.

The Syrian army and Armed Forces backed by the air force on Thursday continued large-scale operations, achieved remarkable advance in Aleppo province and thwarted terrorists' infiltration attempt into Deir-Ezzor Airport.
