DAILY SCOPE: Syrian Army Reaches Aleppo Airport

Lebanese newspapers on Tuesday discussed the latest developments related to the espionage network that was disclosed on Sunday, also revealing that more networks have been arrested and will be made public soon. The dailies also discussed the cabinet ongoing stalemate, anticipating that the country might witness a new wave of protests and sit-ins.

Papers also touched on the regional and international developments, revealing details on the battles taking place in Syria and Yemen.

AN-NAHAR: Legislative Sessions Increase Tension, Sit-ins Expected

An-Nahar newspaper on Tuesday said that during the coming few days, things will be more tense and might be translated into political and media stances, or even through calls for holding strikes and sit-ins.
A prominent political figure told the Lebanese daily that there will be protests supporting the Christian boycott to the legislative session to be held soon. The source said that head of the Future Party Saad Hariri can change the path of events, and that would be in case he informs the House Speaker Nabih Berri that his party will not take part in the session and that the cabinet can wait a few more days until the issue is resolved.

AL-AKHBAR: Woman Spy Was Gathering Charity for Syrian Opposition Forces

The woman that was arrested among other members of the espionage network working for "Israel" which was disclosed on Sunday by the Security Forces Directorate was gathering charity to support the so-called Syrian revolution.
She also served as a cover to her husband who was also arrested on charges of collaboration in the same network, justifying the constant change of his work as a necessity for security reasons as she claimed that his life was in danger and he was threatened by the Syrian government.

A General Security statement said Sunday R.A., a Syrian national, his Lebanese wife S.Sh., and H.M., another Lebanese national, confessed that on the request of their recruiters, they had gathered information on specific security officials and targets within Lebanon, while taking pictures and videos of "sensitive" areas in the south and sending them to ‘Israel'.

AL-JOMHOURIA: Security Forces Fighting takfiri, "Israeli" Terrorism

Head of the General Security Forces Gen. Ibrahim Abbas told al-Jomhouria newspaper that "the general security forces are fighting terrorism, be it the takfiri or the "Israeli"".

He added that the forces are chasing the takfiri networks, nevertheless they are not distracted from following up on other issues such as collaboration with the "Israeli" enemy.

"Confronting these two threats protects the country, what we are dong is part of our duty and we have to face any threat that is imposed on Lebanon," he noted.
Moreover, he said that during the coming days, more terrorist networks will be uncovered, pointing out that the members of these networks have been arrested and undergo investigations currently.

It is worth mentioning that several "Israeli" spy networks had been uncovered in the country in recent years in which the army and the resistance dismantled or destroyed several spy devices found in the south.

AS-SAFIR: Syrian Army Liberating Aleppo Airport After 3 Years

Military sources told As-Safir newspaper that the Syrian army enhanced its positions in the town of Sheikh Ahmad and its outskirts and is positioned now only around 1.5 kilometers away from the Aleppo airport, in preparation to retrieve the airport which had been under the control of the terrorist armed forces for three years.

The sources underscored that it is only ‘a matter of a few hours' until the airport falls into the hands of the Syrian army again and is liberated from the grip of the armed forces, further explaining that the army is only trying to secure the way for the ground forces to enter the airport safely.

Moreover, a field source told As-Safir that the Syrian army is now in control of the South-Eastern Hama, reaching a depth of six kilometers that had witnessed harsh attacks by the armed groups.

The control of Aleppo, which was used to serve as Syria's major trade hub before the crisis started in the Arab country in March 2011, has been divided between government and militants.

However, fresh gains by government forces have changed the situation in favor of the government of President Bashar al-Assad. The Syrian army recaptured the main international highway days after the Syrian army liberated eight villages in Aleppo Province from terrorist groups.
