AN-NAHAR: Legislative Session No Longer Possible in Light of Disputes

An informed source told An-Nahar Lebanese daily on Wednesday that "holding a legislative session is no longer possible given the tensions that have emerged between the Christian parties that are n boycott of the session."

According to the paper, such raised fears that the meeting may be delayed for a week or two.

Moreover, the source, hoping that such would be sufficient time to overcome the disputes, it pointed out that the most notable dispute is that over the parliamentary electoral law over which the parliament extended its term last year.

Speaker Nabih Berri for his part said his decision to exclude the draft electoral law from the legislative session's agenda is because the matter "needs a national agreement that does not exist."

Parliament Speaker, Nabih Berri last Wednesday called for two legislative sessions on Thursday, November 12, 2015 and for one session on Friday, November 13, 2015.

Berri mentioned that the sessions are to endorse the projects and drafts listed on the agenda.

Berri also underscored that paralysis and disruption were not compliant with the National Pact, which instead entails preserving the nation and citizens.

AL-JOMHOURIA: Hizbullah to Visit Aoun n Bid to Resolve Impasse

Al-Jomhouria newspaper on Wednesday reported that a delegation of the Hizbullah party is expected to visit MP General Michel Aoun in Rabieh at his residence, in an attempt to convince him to take part in the scheduled legislative sessions after threats of boycott.

The meeting, according to the paper, comes within efforts made to pave the way for the legislative session to happen without the boycott of the Free Patriotic Movement and other Christian parties, the daily went on to say.

This visit is not the first of its kind, as the political aide of Hizbullah leader Hussein Khalil and Hizbullah's top security official Wafiq Safa have recently visited Aoun in Rabieh.

The dispute over the electoral law dates back to 2013 when the political parties failed to agree on a new one, resulting in parliament extending its own term and postponing the elections.

AS-SAFIR: "ISIL" Should be Categorized as Terrorist Organization

Reporting on the latest field events in Syria, Syrian sources told As-Safir newspaper that "the Syrian army protecting Kwairis airport has eliminated the siege in the area completely, as it secured the path for an infantry force that reached the heart of the airport."

This took place as the Syrian army simultaneously took control of the South Western towns in Aleppo.

Following up on the Vienna talks, As-Safir newspaper said it has obtained a document that explained the 7 major points of the Russian plan for a settlement in Syria. According to the paper these include:

Categorizing "ISIL" as a terrorist organization by the UN Security Council, coming to consent over a list of other terrorist groups, adoption of the UN resolution to support efforts to fight "ISIL" and providing the mechanism for the confrontation, drying out all support-lines to ISIL in accordance with UN resolution 2199 and halting all illegal oil exports with "ISIL", excluding "ISIL" and the other terrorist organizations from the cease-fire deal, launching a political process under the patronage of the UN envoy to Syria in accordance with the Geneva 1 statement to preserve Syria and its political independence and repel any terrorist danger threatening the Syrian government, and applying the mechanisms suggested for the political process to happen.

The Syrian army managed on Tuesday to break the 3-year siege by "ISIL" terrorist group at the major airbase of Kwairis in Aleppo northern countryside. The army units converged with Kwairis airbase garrison after controlling the neighboring villages of Rasm Abboud, Kwairis and Sheikh Ahmad.

The fierce clashes which erupted between the Syrian army and "ISIL" left a large number of terrorists dead, while others escaped the battlefield towards the adjacent towns.
