EU Council Calls G20 Leaders for Response to Terrorism

European Council President Donald Tusk confirmed that "the European Union is ready to assist France after the Paris terrorist attacks."
In a letter to French President Francois Hollande, he stated the European Council will demand that G20 leaders respond to the threat of extremism at the upcoming meeting in Antalya.
After a series to terrorist attacks took place in the French capital on Friday, at least 140 people were killed and others were kept hostages at the Bataclan concert hall.
"This fight is the fight of all Europeans, and all the other peoples of the free world, too," Tusk stressed adding that "the European Union will assist her [France]."
On a personal level, Tusk wrote on his Twitter account: "I follow with shock the attacks in Paris. My full solidarity and sympathy with the French people and authorities."
On his part, President Hollande cancelled his participation in the G20 summit following the Friday night terrorist attacks. He held an urgent Defense Council meeting on Saturday morning. The summit is scheduled to be held in the current November 15, 16 in Turkey.
In a related context, reports mentioned that Hollande had to be evacuated from the Stade de France in Paris on Friday, when two explosions occurred at the stadium, where France was playing against Germany in a friendly match.
