Lebanese newspapers on Wednesday followed up on the different domestic topics in light of the sessions held by the cabinet to resolve pending files including the electoral law and waste management crisis. Also, papers touched on the latest regional developments including the events in Syria and Yemen.
AN-NAHAR: New Committee to Study Electoral Law
The parliament bureau is scheduled to form a committee of five to six members on Wednesday that will be in charge of studying a new electoral law, reported An-Nahar Lebanese daily.
House Speaker Nabih Berri underscored that "he will be responsible for the standards that adopted in choosing these members."
He explained that he seeks the best representation at the committee in order to avoid complaints from various parties.
Moreover, An-Nahar newspaper quoted Ministerial sources as saying that forming the panel will meet a Christian demand and help revive the work of cabinet. Earlier, media reports had said that the committee would have two months to reach an agreement over the electoral draft law.
Parliament Speaker, Nabih Berri last Wednesday called for two legislative sessions on Thursday, November 12, 2015 and for one session on Friday, November 13, 2015. He mentioned that the sessions are to endorse the projects and drafts listed on the agenda.
Berri also underscored that paralysis and disruption were not compliant with the National Pact, which instead entails preserving the nation and citizens.
AL-AKHBAR: Atmosphere in Lebanon Good, Nasrallah's Initiative Important
Head of the Democratic Gathering MP Walid Jumblatt told al-Akhbar newspaper on Wednesday that he is optimistic about the coming session that was held by the cabinet, saying "the atmosphere was good and that things are set on track for the being. We are moving forward today according to a day by day plan: yesterday there was a legislative session, tomorrow a ministerial session will be held, followed eventually by a session to resolve the pending waste management crisis."
Jumblatt also saw that Hizbullah Secretary General Sayyed hassan Nasrallah's initiative towards a comprehensive political settlement and the welcoming of MP Saad Hariri to the initiative as positive steps that open new horizons towards a better future."
AS-SAFIR: Person Providing Explosive Belts in Tripoli Arrested
Well-informed sources told As-Safir newspaper that the technical branch of the Internal Security Forces has uncovered the identity of the person who has been recruited by "ISIS" to carry out the task of storing and preparing the explosive devices and delivering these to the suicide bombers.
According to the paper, the security apparatus was able to analyze telecoms data through trackng and breaking down the phone calls made by the persons arrested only a few days before the twin-explosion that took place in Beirut's southern suburb area of Burj al-Barajneh.
Also, the sources told the paper they were able to monitor the area in Tripoli where the suicide bomber al-Jamal was arrested through checking out the cameras spread in that area. Sources told the paper that the security forces succeeded as well in obtaining information through the confessions of the two arrested terrorists al-Jamal and Ibrahim Rayed, who were in charge of transporting the explosive belts and devices to Tripoli.
Interior Minister Nuhad al-Mashnouq told As-Safir on Monday "there is a real open war of terror going on in Lebanon, and it requires the Lebanese to be on utmost levels of responsibility and readiness."
Earlier in a press conference on Sudnay, Mashnouq said that ISF Intelligence shall exert further anti-terrorist efforts undaunted by escalating threats, adding that political stability in the country however remains to be the sole path for ensuring security.
AL-AKHBAR: New Forces Join Battle Against Terrorists in Idlib, Aleppo
Syrian Democratic Forces spokesman Talal Ali Sello assured to al-Akhbar newspaper that the party has sent six new forces have joined the groups in Idlib and Aleppo outskirts to fight the terrorist groups.
He noted "we have a plan to connect the two towns of Ain Arab and Afreen in the Northern Aleppo outskirts," adding that the forces will not start any attacks against the Nusra Front and Jaysh al-Fath for the moment, but he assured that they will repel any attack and then harshly retaliate."
Earlier on Tuesday, the Syrian army and allies established full control over al-Hadath village, located 82 km southeast of Homs city in the central Homs province.
A military source told SANA that the army units eliminated a number of gatherings of "ISIS" terrorists and destroyed many of their vehicles in al-Hadath and later combed the village, where they dismantled tens of explosive devices planted near the locals' houses and in farms.
