A large-scale military maneuver held by the Iranian Army Ground Force in the country's northeast entered the final day on Wednesday with the utilization of homegrown Unmanned Aerial Vehicles [UAVs].
The war game, codenamed "Muhammad Rasulullah-3" [Muhammad, the Messenger of God-3] is in progress in Torbat-e-Jam region, province of Khorasan Razavi, northeast of Iran.
A senior Iranian Army commander had announced that one of the objectives of ongoing exercises in the eastern parts of the country is to boost the forces' preparedness and to practice how to deal with the possible acts of terrorist groups, such as Daesh, along the country's borders.
Brigadier General Reza Azarian noted that the operational phase of the military drills started on Monday, adding that the second day of the maneuver focuses on exercises concerning pre-determined targets.
"This maneuver's message to our friends is the message of peace, friendship and stability in the region and its message to the enemies is that of strength and up-to-date preparedness of the Armed Forces, including the Army," Azarian said.
Battalions of infantry brigade as well as artillery, electronic warfare and psychological warfare units participated in the first day of drills.
Heliborne operations and evacuation of the injured were also rehearsed in the drills.
The final stage of the exercises began on Wednesday morning with the flying of Mohajer-2 and Yasir drones.
Mohajer-2 is a reconnaissance and spy drone capable of carrying out combat operations.
Yasir is also a locally manufactured drone whose "suicide" version has been already employed in the previous war games.
Iran is now in possession of a broad range of UAVs which can be used for both civilian and military purposes.
Accordingly, it had conducted several drills to enhance the defense capabilities of its armed forces and to test modern military tactics and equipment.
The Islamic Republic has repeatedly said that its military might poses no threat to other countries, reiterating that its defense doctrine is based on deterrence.
