Media reports stated that the US Secretary of State John Kerry said on Thursday that the implementation of the Iran nuclear agreement may be only "days away," since the Islamic Republic is meeting its commitments.

Kerry: Lifting Iran Sanctions ’Days Away’

In further details, Kerry told reporters in Washington that he spoke to his Iranian counterpart, Mohammad Javad Zarif, who promised Tehran would live up to its promises made under the nuclear accord, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.

"The foreign minister made it clear to me they intend to complete obligations with respect to implementation day as rapidly as possible," Kerry said.

Besides, Kerry added that: "we are currently engaged ourselves in making certain that we're prepared to move on that day and I think it could come, without being specific, sooner rather than later."

Relatively, he noted that: "We are days away from implementation if all goes well."

The US diplomat added that his country would be ready to begin lifting its sanctions against Tehran.

Last July, Iran and the P5+1 group of world powers [the US, Britain, France, Russia, China, and Germany] concluded talks on Iran's nuclear energy program in Vienna.

Under the agreement, Iran was recognized by the United Nations as a nuclear power and will continue its uranium enrichment program, but some restrictions will be placed on Iran's nuclear program in exchange for the removal of sanctions.
