Putin, Al-Assad: Fighting Terrorists Needed During Ceasefire

The Kremlin press service said that Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Syrian counterpart Bashar al-Assad held a phone conversation Wednesday.
The phone talks were held two days after Russia and the United States announced an agreement on the cessation of hostilities between the Syrian army and the militant factions in the country.
It is worth mentioning that the agreement will come into force on February 27.
However, military action, including airstrikes conducted by Syria, Russia and the US-led coalition will continue against "ISIS", al-Nusra Front, as well as other terrorist groups.
Both presidents noted the importance of continuing the fight against "ISIS", al-Nusra Front, and other groups designated as terrorist organizations.
For his part, al-Assad welcomed the recent Russia-US statement on cessation of hostilities in Syria as an important step toward political settlement, the Kremlin added.
"Al-Assad described the proposals outlined in the document as an important step toward political settlement."
