Syrian Army Retakes Key Town from ’ISIS’

One day after losing Khanaser, the Syrian army retook the strategic town from "ISIS" terrorist group Thursday morning, paving the way for the reopening of its sole supply route to main northern city Aleppo.
The offensive came after the group's terrorists tried to attack the Syrian army units' positions along Ithrya-Khanaser road.
According to field sources, over 100 terrorists were killed in the clashes with the Syrian army and volunteer forces.
Facing an imminent defeat, "ISIS" terrorists left behind their dead and wounded members Wednesday and fled their stronghold in the area.
Meanwhile, a Russian and US-brokered ceasefire is scheduled to go into effect on Friday at 22:00 GMT.
However, the war against "ISIS" will go on as the group is specifically excluded from the planned truce, as is al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate al-Nusra Front.
Separately, in the southern province of Daraa, a military source reported that an army unit destroyed two machinegun-equipped vehicles for al-Nusra Front terrorists in Om Walad village at the eastern countryside of the province.
In the meantime, humanitarian aid is being delivered to besieged towns all over Syria, following the ceasefire deal.
The foreign-sponsored conflict in Syria, which flared up in March 2011, has killed some 470,000 people and left 1.9 million injured, according to the Syrian Center for Policy Research.
