Lebanese newspapers on Tuesday followed up on the GCC stance in which it branded Hizbullah [the only group preventing the occupation of Lebanon by "Israeli" forces] as a terrorist group, in a new move signaling more deterioration and escalation in Saudi-Lebanese relations.

The dailies focused on the reactions to the GCC decision, and how it has embarrassed some of Saudi Arabia's allies in Lebanon, particularly the Future party. The papers also touched on the ministerial session to be held today, in which the officials will discuss the new Gulf labeling of the resistance movement and the lingering waste crisis which has not been resolved yet.
AS-SAFIR: Lebanese Internal Arena United in Face of GCC Decision
Hours after Hizbullah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and Head of the Future party Saad Hariri had intersected at the importance of an ongoing dialogue between Hizbullah and the Future party to protect Lebanon's internal arena from the dangers of sectarian strife, the GCC decided to label Hizbullah, which is represented in the parliament and cabinet and enjoys a huge popularity, a terrorist group.
"Hizbullah's pivotal role in resistance and its sacrificing of thousands of martyrs and wounded in the conflict with "Israel", its Lebanon's liberation in 2000, its victory in the 2006 war, and its support to the Palestinians besieged in the Gaza Strip was not enough to corroborate the existence of this party," said As-Safir newspaper.
Criticizing the Saudi and Gulf countries' stance, As-Safir said that "the entire résumé of Hizbullah in confronting occupation was not even enough to lighten the punishment [by labeling it as terrorist], adding that the GCC countries did not hesitate to find themselves on the same page with the Zionist entity, and rather boasted about using the same literature "Israel" has been using against the resistance."
According to the paper, Saudi Arabia became friends with "Israel" first and foremost to exacerbate Iran.
As-Safir also highlighted that at the time the Gulf countries followed the lead of angry Saudi Arabia and danced on the rhythm of sectarianism without even having second thoughts about it, the US and the European countries demonstrated more mercy towards Lebanon, and showed keenness on Lebanon's internal stability and equipping its army, even if that served the US-European interest of keeping the refugees-crisis that has hit Lebanon from exploding and reaching their territories.
Yet, according to the Lebanese daily, the Gulf impulsive and hasty decision proved that the Lebanese arena enjoys responsibility and high capability in handling things rationally, which was reflected in the stance of Interior Minister Nouhad al-Mashnouq as he objected the decision and disassociated himself to preserve Lebanon and its governmental institutions, while MP Saad Hariri assured that the Future party will continue its dialogue with Hizbullah and that mutual cooperation to preserve Lebanon will continue.
AN-NAHAR: GCC Decision, Waste Crisis on Plate for Discussion
Ministerial sources told An-Nahar newspaper that two major issues will be discussed at the ministerial session to be held today, Tuesday: the GCC decision and the waste management crisis.
Labor Minister Saja'an Qazzi told the daily "It is not the role of the Ministerial council to either approve of or reject the stances of others, and despite the GCC stance, we in Lebanon have our own circumstances and do not consider Hizbullah as a terrorist organization."
As for the waste management crisis, ministerial sources stated that a new solution including healthy and environmentally legal landfills across the country will be discussed during the session, which will be a temporary solution until the cabinet finds the final way out.
According to the paper, even though the sources are optimistic on a near solution, yet it warned of the serious health concerns in light of the critical spread of carcinogens and cancerous diseases due to the accumulating untreated garbage, not to mention the environmental destruction caused by the crisis.
AL-AKHBAR: "Israeli"-Saudi Relations Made Public after Decades of Cooperation
Days after "Israeli" channel 2 announced that a high-ranking "Israeli" delegation had visited the Saudi capital Riyadh a few weeks ago, the kingdom escalated its war against the resistance in Lebanon, which was demonstrated by the GCC labeling of Hizbullah as a terrorist organization in Lebanon.
According to al-Akhbar newspaper, the GCC declaration comes in the context of "inaugurating" Saudi-"Israeli" relations which were made public, after decades of secret coordination and communication between the foreign and defense ministries as well as between the intelligence agencies of the two regimes.
March 8 sources told the daily that the Saudi current attitude is part of "the ongoing wars Saudi Arabia has launched in Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Bahrain," adding that what has happened is "a declaration of an "Israeli"-Saudi coalition against the Lebanese resistance and people, and is a clear Saudi engagement in liquidating the Palestinian cause."
The sources added that "Saudi Arabia holds peace with "Israel" and does not care about the rights of the Palestinians, whereas it declares war against the resistance forces."
