The "soap opera" of scandals is rolling in Lebanon. Following earlier scandals on spoiled meat and medicines, the piles and mountains of garbage across the country, and the illegal internet network exposing Lebanon's national security to danger, a new scandal surfaces this time revealing that the bread consumed by the Lebanese people contains carcinogens.

Newspapers issued on Friday tackled the new scandal that directly affects the health and safety of the people, and touched on the latest cabinet session held on Thursday, which was far from being described as a calm discussion.
Al-Akhbar: Deterrence Message from Nasrallah to "Israel"
In a few days, Hizbullah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah will appear in an interview on al-Mayadeen TV channel, which has "special significance" as described by the newspaper.
The interview does not come on the backdrop of Russian President Vladimir Putin's declaration to withdrawing its forces from Syria, nor does it coincide with the rumors on the slowdown in Saudi Arabia's aggression on Yemen... It is significant because it will be a "direct message to Israel and its leaders" in which Nasrallah will clearly tell the enemy "this is what our reaction will be like to any aggression."
Also, the paper analyzed that Nasrallah's direct message tells the "Israelis" that the resistance is aware of the "Israeli" measures and procedures being carried out, indicating that the enemy seems to be waiting for a political decision to launch a war on Lebanon.
The newspaper also pointed out that even though "Israel" is still subject to the deterrence power balance imposed by the resistance in Lebanon, especially in terms of carrying out operations inside Lebanon's territories, yet the environment provided by the Arab regimes and the direct Saudi incitement against the resistance might constitute a motivation for the "Israeli" enemy to carry out what it sees as breaking the growing resistance force.
The newspaper concluded that even though the resistance is at utmost readiness to repel any attacks, yet it deemed it as necessary to reiterate the deterrence equation in the region through direct speech from its Secretary General Sayyed Nasrallah.
AS-SAFIR: Bread in Lebanon Carcinogenic, Ministers Bickering over Matter!
The daily bread of the Lebanese people is made of carcinogenic wheat, revealed ministerial sources on Thursday, leaving the health of the Lebanese people at stake by every means.
Sources revealed the scandal as the Ministers of Health and Economy exchanged accusations over the matter. At the time Health Minister Wael Abu Faour assured that four samples of imported wheat out of six taken by the ministry inspectors had carcinogens, Finance Minister Alain Hakim insisted these claims were false and that the samples were carcinogen-free.
In a statement issued by the Health Ministry, Abu Faour said "Rather than denying the issue, [the economy ministry] should find ways, if possible, to monitor the wheat in the market and to work on stopping the entry of new wheat shipments before examining them."
The statement pointed out that the inspectors took 12 samples on Feb. 24 from wheat imported from the US and 12 other samples of the wheat imported from Russia. Five of the samples imported from Russia contained ochratoxin.
According to As-Safir, unraveling the matter comes in the context of an awareness campaign to the public opinion and the citizens of Lebanon, who are consuming bread that contains ochratoxin.
Also, the paper noted that such a campaign and public announcement to the scandal can be considered as a warning to the wheat exporters to Lebanon, who should not dare anymore to break the law and take the health of people lightly.
AL-AKHBAR: Turkish Ship Carried Weapons, More Young Men from Lebanon Join Daesh
Well-informed sources told al-Akhbar newspaper that the Turkish ship heading to Lebanon's port was intercepted by Greece last month carried war rifles and explosive material, unlike what the March 14 media had claimed back then.
There was a March 14 media campaign when the ship was intercepted, claiming that the ship was only carrying shotguns and guns used for hunting.
Yet according to Greek and Turkish sources, the cargo ship was containing thousands of weapons, ammunition, and explosives when seized on the 28th of February. The ship- sporting a Togo flag- had reportedly left a Turkish port in Izmir and was traveling to Lebanon as well as the southeastern African coast.
Also earlier, sources pointed out that port officers in Greece confiscated 6,400 shotguns and a large cache of explosives, found in two containers on board the Togo-flagged Trader. According to police, the ship, with an 11-man crew, belonged to a powerful smuggling network working out of Lebanon, Syria and Greece.
On another note, al-Akhbar newspaper on Friday reported that a group of young men from the Ain al-Helwe refugee camp have joined the lines of the extremist groups of Daesh [the Arabic acronym for the Takfiri "ISIS" group], by that raising the number of new members from Lebanon to 14.
According to a source close to Daesh, the group has called these young men to join security training sessions, since they will be tasked later on with missions to be carried inside Lebanon.
"These members shall return back to the camp when they are requested to," the source noted.
Over the past few months, Lebanese security forces have arrested several terrorists affiliated with Daesh, some of them who were involved in the explosions and attacks that took place inside Lebanon.
