AS-SAFIR: Goal of al-Qaa Attacks to Displace Lebanese, Resettle Syrian Refugees to Support Daesh

Well-informed sources told As-Safir newspaper that it has obtained information assuring that the ultimate goal of the attacks that took place on Monday was to spread fear and panic among the people of al-Qaa town, by that pushing tis people to leave their homes and town right away.

Moreover, the sources also told As-Safir that the step to follow displacing the citizens of the town would be allowing an expansion of the Syrian refugees especially since they are concentrated in the outskirts of al-Qaa. The plan, according to the sources, was that the refugees replace the displaced Lebanese citizens of al-Qaa after their escape from the explosions.

Daesh, according to the sources, was planning by this move to prepare an "incubator environment" for it in the area, which allows it to expand its presence and overtime establish a new base for the terrorist group in a more advanced point in the area.

On Monday, four suicide bombers targeted al-Qaa in a pre-dawn attack killing five people and injuring 15 others, while another four bombers attacked the town in the evening and wounded 13 people.

Security Forces had begun a comprehensive search of the entire border village, as the army's Airborne Regiment launched raid operations in the town's outskirts in search of the suspects.

AL-JOMHOURIA: Suicide-Bombers Maybe More than 8, Infiltrated Lebanese Borders

Also on the terrorist attacks, al-Jomhouria newspaper quoted military sources as saying that the suicide-bombers had come from outside the Lebanese borders, and they might have infiltrated the borders through the Syrian side from an area known as "Tallet al-Salib".

The sources pointed out that investigations are still ongoing, and that so far there are assumptions that the suicide bombers were more than 8 people, fearing that the rest are still in hide in areas close to al-Qaa village.

Also, in light of the unraveling information on the terrorist activities in Lebanon, military sources assured to al-Jomhouria that the security campaign is not limited to al-Qaa and its surroundings but rather extends allover Lebanon, including Beirut, the south and the Southern Suburbs of Beirut; Dahiyeh.

The sources said that the army intelligence has obtained information from some of the arrested suspects, revealing that the terrorist group has prepared plots to attack different areas. Accordingly, the army arrested one of the terrorist masterminds, by that foiling a major terrorist attack that was in the making.

AL-AKHBAR: Airport Security in Danger, Security Forces Ups Precautionary Measures

More on the topic, al-Akhbar newspaper quoted political figures and officials as saying that the terrorist attacks in Lebanon are not just a "possible" scenario but has become a reality with al-Qaa being its starting point.

According to ministerial sources, the explosions imply that Lebanon has entered the conflict of terrorist targeting, which is a plan to target several countries according to Daesh plans and that is due to its weakness and retreat in Syria and Iraq.

On a related note, another ministerial source underscored that the airport security is in jeopardy and is back to the forefront of confrontations, especially after the attacks that were carried out in Istanbul airport.

Earlier on Wednesday, a video was released by an alleged militant group threatening air traffic at Rafik Hariri International Airport.

"The video cannot be disregarded nor can it be believed," a military source told the Daily Star on Wednesday, adding "Investigations are ongoing and we are working on it ... the security forces are always changing their approach and installing new procedures [to deal with threats]."
