Four Iranian diplomats kidnapped during the 1975-1990 Lebanese Civil War are believed to be alive in an "Israeli" prison, Iran's foreign ministry said Sunday.
On the occasion of the 34th anniversary of their abduction, the ministry said it had evidence and documents that indicate the four Iranians are "still alive and imprisoned in 'Israel'," Iran's Tasnim News Agency quoted the ministry as saying in a statement.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran reiterates its previous proposal for the establishment of a fact finding committee to further clarify different aspects of the case," the statement underlined.
Last month, Secretary of Iran's Expediency Council Mohsen Rezaei had stated that Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps [IRGC] is involved in security and intelligence activities to free the four diplomats.
In July 1982, the year of the "Israeli" apartheid entity's second invasion of Lebanon, four Iranian diplomats, the then charge d'affaires of the Iranian Embassy in Beirut Sayyed Mohsen Mousavi, military attaché Ahmad Motevaselian, embassy technician Taghi Rastegar Moghadam and journalist of the Islamic republic news agency Kazzem Akhavan were abducted at a checkpoint in north Lebanon.
