Also, the newspapers paid special attention to a report prepared by one of the foreign embassies, reporting the presence of sleeping terrorist cells among the Syrian refugees in Lebanon.
AS-SAFIR: Salam Reassures Oil File National, Technical par Excellence
Lebanese Prime Minister Tammam Salam expressed his annoyance over the agreement that was struck between the Free Patriotic Movement and the Amal Party on the oil excavation file, said As-Safir newspaper on Monday.
"Before the file is fully and transparently addressed, and all its requirements are complete, I will not be calling for a meeting of the ministerial committee," Salam told the newspaper.
He further pointed out that the oil excavation file is a national and technical file par excellence, and should be kept away from wagering and political stances, stressing "We are in confrontation with a big experience that constitutes a challenge to the country and its future."
Moreover, Salam told As-Safir that "this national natural resource requires readiness on the technical, administrative, and financial levels so that Lebanon can engage steaily in the process, we should be able to clearly see where we are heading."
Several Lebanese officials have warned that the delay in the government's approval of the decrees has given "Israel" the opportunity to siphon Lebanon's offshore gas and oil through fields that lie only a few kilometers from the country's territorial waters.
AN-NAHAR: Western Embassies Report Presence of Sleeping Terrorist Cells in Lebanon
Ministerial sources on Monday told An-Nahar newspaper that one of the Western embassies in Lebanon has prepared a report yet refused to publish it or make it public because it contradicts with the desires of western countries in raising the percentage of refugees in Lebanon and their acceptance by the Lebanese people, pointing out their fears that if the tension is not relieved, Syrian refugees might seek alternative host countries in the West, which is not desired by any of the Western countries.
According to the source, the report does not say the Syrian refugees should be given citizenship, but talks about the naturalization of the Syrian refugees who should be allowed to stay in Lebanon as their second home since it is impossible for them to return and by that prevent them from going to Europe.
The report, according to the sources also expressed fears from the presence of sleeping terrorist cells living among the Syrian refugees in Lebanon, and warned from the sudden operations these groups might carry out.
The UN has estimated the number of Syrian refugees in Lebanon at about 1.5 million, in addition to nearly 400,000 Palestinian refugees. Lebanese officials have sounded fears of naturalizing the refugees, or keeping them in the country for a long time, a scenario similar to the Palestinian refugees, who have had a presence in Lebanon since the 1948 "Israeli" occupation of Palestine.
AL-BINAA: ‘Israel' Upping Media, Psychological War on 10th Anniversary of July War
Military sources told al-Binaa newspaper that "The heavy military Israeli presence at the borders with Lebanon comes in the context of a media and psychological war in coincidence with the 10th memory of the 33 day war in which ‘Israel' launched war against Lebanon."
According to the source, the ‘Israeli' enemy is trying to create a balance in terms of the media war the resistance had launched against ‘Israel' and bring back confidence in the people of the ‘Israeli' state which was badly shaken during the past decade.
Yet, sources said it is not likely that ‘Israel' would launch a war against Lebanon.
Lebanese citizens of borderline regions within the district of Marjayoun, especially in the town of Addayseh and its surroundings, heard on Sunday afternoon the sound of explosions caused by ‘Israeli' forces' maneuvers inside the occupied lands, reported the National News Agency on Sunday.
Also on Sunday, an ‘Israeli' gunboat violated the Lebanese territorial waters off Ras Naqoura to a distance of approximately 333 meters for three minutes.
