AL-JOMHOURIA: Future Party Causing Tension, Ball in its Court

Member of the "Change and Reform Bloc" Alan Aoun told al-Jomhouria newspaper on Tuesday that "It is clear that a state of tension is visible among the lines of the Future party on how to deal with the coming phase especially as the party members are holding serious discussions on how to deal with the different files, notably the presidential file."

"The ball is in the court of the Future party today," said the MP, adding that the party will be witnessing important meetings to be convened by its Head Saad Hariri, in which the party will determine its political drive and set a date for discussing the presidential file," reported the newspaper.

Aoun told the newspaper "Today, the entire situation is in the hands of the Future party, all political parties in the country have a steady position on domestic matters while the Future party remains undecided and the only moving variable in the current political equation while it owns the keys to the problem."

The politician added that the Future party should either "Support head of the Change and Reform bloc Gen. Michel Aoun or allow a new electoral law to see light, based on which new and fair parliamentarian elections can take place, where the elected parliament in its turn can elect a president."

"Isn't it time for the Future party to make a bold move and end the misery of the Lebanese people?" he wondered.

AL-AKHBAR: Labor Minister Threatens Swedish Gov. from Expelling Lebanese Families

After a long period of silence, the Lebanese Labor Minister speaks up to resolve the problem that faces around 70 Lebanese families residing in Sweden. After Sweden has threatened these families of deportation, the minister addressed the Swedish government and reciprocally said that he will expel the Swedish laborers working in Lebanon (whose number does not exceed 6 people).

Qazzi's measures come in the context of defending the rights of the 70 families, as he asked the "Labor ministry to provide him with a list of names of the Swedish workers in Lebanon. The Minister came to know that they work in the fields of journalism, telecoms, universities, sports, and trade companies. He reassured that the measures carried out in response to the Swedish act will be harsh.

In a message to Swedish Ambassador to Lebanon Peter Semneby, Qazzi demanded an explanation regarding the Foreign Ministry's recent claim that Sweden was preparing to deport the Lebanese families. Also, Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil sent a message last week to his Swedish counterpart Margot Wallstrom, warning that any deportations would negatively impact ties between the two nations.

Reports have been circulating that Sweden and Finland had decided to deport up to 100,000 immigrant workers to make room for recently arrived Syrian refugees.
