Syrian Army Establishes Control Over Key Aleppo District

The Syrian Army overran a strategically important district on the southern outskirts of Syria's Aleppo Thursday after inflicting heavy losses upon terrorists of the so-called "Jaish al-Fatah".
Army units' advance in al-Ramouseh further seals off Aleppo's eastern districts.
A military source told SANA that over the past few hours, army units, in cooperation with the supporting forces, carried out intensive operations against positions of the terrorist organizations in al-Ramouseh area to the south of Aleppo city.
The source confirmed that the army established control over the gas factory, the tanneries, the slaughterhouse, the Post's building and the military checkpoint site in the area, leaving many terrorists dead, in addition to destroying a number of their mortar positions, heavy machine guns and a cannon.
Meanwhile, SANA reporter in Aleppo said the army units and the supporting forces later continued to advance in the southern countryside of Aleppo province, establishing control over al-Talleh al-Safra' [hill] to the east of Maarata amid clashes with the terrorist groups in the surroundings of the storehouses in the vicinity of the hill.
The reporter mentioned that the Syrian Air Force destroyed positions and supply routes of the terrorist organizations in the area of the storehouses of Khan Touman and in al-Hikma School, Maarata and to the south of Tallet Bazo, killing scores of terrorists and injuring others.
Aleppo province, which borders Turkey to the north, is a patchwork of territory held by competing forces in Syria's war: the so-called "moderate opposition" forces, the Syrian government, Kurdish fighters, and extremists.
Daesh's [Arabic acronym for "ISIS" / "ISIL"] last major position in the province is Al-Bab, eyed by rival Kurdish and Arab fighters backed by the US-led coalition and Ankara respectively.
