A Syrian "opposition" leader thanked "Israel" for attacking a Syrian military airbase outside Damascus before dawn on Wednesday, after reports which the Tel Aviv regime has neither confirmed nor denied attributed the strikes to the "Israeli" Air Force.

The Syrian military reported the attack hours after Arabic-language media outlets said a series of explosions had occurred in the suburbs of Damascus.
Khaled Khalaf, a lawyer and a high-ranking member of the so-called Syrian Revolutionary Command Council, told i24news' Arabic channel that "If "Israel" repeats what it did this morning [referring to the strikes], in the coming days we will achieve victories against the regime."
"We thank Tel Aviv for bombing those missiles bases at Mezze Airport."
For his part, the Zionist War Minister Avigdor Lieberman claimed Wednesday that "Israel" was working to prevent Hizbullah from "smuggling weapons of mass destruction" from Syria to its headquarters in Lebanon.
