Lavrov: US Easing Restrictions on Arms to Syria Won’t Seriously Affect Situation in E Aleppo

Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said he doesn't think the US'
easing restrictions on arms to Syria will significantly change the
situation in eastern Aleppo, because the militants there are encircled
and they are unlikely to receive reinforcing.

He added, that from the point of view of the developments in Syria, "resupplying the Syrian "opposition" [with weapons] is a big risk, as in the majority of cases the weapons that the so-called "moderate" Syrian opposition receive end up in the hands of the terrorists - Daesh [ISIS/ISIL] or al-Nusra Front."
On the sidelines of the OSCE Ministerial Council, Lavrvo said members confirmed their consensus on the fight against terrorism.
The member states of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe [OSCE] confirmed their consensus on the fight against terrorism, Lavrov said Friday.
"We are satisfied that the Foreign Ministerial Council clearly confirmed the consensus on the necessity to more actively fight terrorism, to boost the efficiency of work to fight the drug industry, and I think this is our great achievement," Lavrov told reporters in Hamburg, the city hosting the OSCE Ministerial Council's meeting.
"I hope this consensus, which is evident, will be embodied in specific documents," he added after a meeting with his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier on the sidelines of the council.
