In its latest violations of Lebanese sovereignty, the apartheid "Israeli" entity's infantry units on Wednesday dismantled cameras installed along Lebanon's southern border.
The Media War Center said via Twitter that the "Israeli" units took down the installed cameras along the Marjayoun town of Mais al-Jabal at 2:30 a.m.
The National News Agency [NNA] said that the cameras had been taken inside the occupied lands amid heavy deployment of "Israeli" soldiers.
According to the Daily Star, the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon [UNIFIL] spokesperson Andrea Tenenti said in a statement that the Head of Mission and Force Commander, Maj.-Gen., Michael Beary was following up on the situation.
It confirmed that the devices installed by the "Israeli" army were removed after an agreement was reached between all parties involved "to minimize tensions... that could lead to escalation of the situation in this sensitive stretch of the Blue Line."
"UNIFIL considers it imperative to reach agreed solutions with both sides aimed at building confidence among the parties and decrease tension."
It said that the situation along the Blue Line and UNIFIL area of operations remains "stable."
The dismantling of the devices comes less than a week after "Israeli" forces fired tear gas over a barbed-wire border fence to disperse a crowd of protesters gathered on the Lebanese side, demonstrating against the installed cameras.
"Israeli" military said it fired the tear gas when protesters crossed the international border, a claim which UN peacekeepers are investigating.
The protesters said that the "Israeli" entity had installed spying devices in order to monitor south Lebanon's agricultural lands.
