Beirut - A cluster bomb left over from the 2006 conflict between "Israel" and Hizbullah on Monday killed a member of the occupation-resistance in southern Lebanon, the country`s National News Agency said. The agency did not reveal the exact location of the incident but named the victim as 27-year-old Mahmoud Ali Mallah.
Hizbullah`s al-Manar news website confirmed the death of Mallah, saying he had joined the group in 1998 but giving no further details.
The death brings to at least 30 the number of people who have been killed by cluster-bomb and landmine explosions in Lebanon since the end of the 33-day "Israel"-Hizbullah war. The war was ended on August 14, 2006, by UN Security Council resolution 1701 which imposed a ceasefire.
The United Nations and other human rights groups have accused "Israel" of dropping about 4 million cluster bomblets over southern Lebanon during the conflict. UN ordinance-clearing experts say that up to 1 million failed to explode.
