In yet another violation of Syrian sovereignty, Republicans of the US Congress introduced a bill that seeks to recognize Syria’s occupied Golan Heights as ‘Israeli’ territory.

The move has yet to be endorsed by US President Donald Trump.

The measure was brought by Senators Ted Cruz and Tom Cotton as well as Representative Mike Gallagher.

“The United States has been committed for over 40 years to ensuring ‘Israel’s’ security from attacks emanating from across the Golan Heights,” the bill’s sponsors said Wednesday.

It has no Democratic support. The American ‘Israel’ Public Affairs Committee [AIPAC] has also kept mum on the bill.

‘Israeli’ occupation officials have long pushed for US recognition of the Zionist regime’s sovereignty claims over the territory, which was seized from Syria in 1967.

Republicans, however, are ready to raise the issue to the Democratically-controlled House of Representatives.
