The first clinical trial for a vaccine against COVID-19 is set to begin on Monday in the United States, according to an unnamed government official.

Testing is set to take place at the Kaiser Permanente Washington Health Research Institute in Seattle, where 45 volunteers will be administered with different doses of shots developed by The National Institutes of Health [NIH] and Moderna Inc.

Meanwhile, public health officials have said that it will take between 12 and 18 months to green light any potential vaccine.

Medical officials said participants were not at risk of infection, as the virus was not a component of the vaccine.

Relatively, the results of the first clinical trials of this drug in China on many patients are expected to be released on April 27.
