Trump Repeats ’Willingness’ To Give Iran Coronavirus Aid ’If They Ask For It’
By Staff, Agencies
US President Donald Trump reiterated on Sunday that he is willing to provide Iran with Coronavirus aid "if they ask for it."
“If Iran needed aid on this, I would be willing to do something, if they want it, if they ask for it,” Trump said during a daily press briefing at the White House.
The Islamic Republic has been powerfully fighting to contain the deadliest COVID-19 outbreak since reporting its first cases on February 19.
However, it has been a hard mission amid the continued and renewed sanctions by the Trump administration, which most recently reimposed crippling sanctions on the Islamic Republic, which are added to those imposed after Trump unilaterally pulling the US out of a historic nuclear deal with world powers negotiated under his predecessor Barack Obama.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani later rejected Trump's offer for assistance, urging the US instead to lift sanctions so it can manage the health crisis on its own.
