Pelosi Endorses Joe Biden for US President

US House Of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued a statement on Monday, saying that she is endorsing Joe Biden for president.

Biden became the presumptive Democratic nominee to face Trump in the November elections following the withdrawal of all rival Democratic Party presidential candidates, including Bernie Sanders.

Earlier in the month, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, who had dropped out of the race, called upon his base to support his former rival, Biden, saying that Americans need him in the White House.

That made for a stark contrast to 2016, when Sanders waited until the eve of the Democratic National Convention in the summer to support the then-nominee, Hillary Clinton.

Before the pandemic brought the Democratic primary contest to a virtual halt, Biden had built up a commanding delegate edge over Sanders, leading the Vermont senator to declare last week he saw no viable path to the nomination.
