Twelve ‘Israeli' military aircrafts flew over southern and northern Lebanon on Friday in violation of a United Nations resolution, the army said.

Six ‘Israeli' jets flew over the southern village of Alma al-Shaab for about 30 minutes in the morning while six other planes overflew the northern coastal city of Batroun, also for 30 minutes, a statement said.

"The ‘Israeli' enemy violated Lebanese airspace and Resolution 1701," which the United Nations Security Council passed in August 2006, the statement said.

The resolution brought an end to a 34-day deadly war between ‘Israel' and Hizbullah.

The United Nations has called on ‘Israel' repeatedly to stop violating Lebanese air space. It says
the over flights undermine the credibility of UN peacekeepers deployed in south Lebanon and compromise efforts to bring stability to the region.

The army also reported that three ‘Israeli' aircrafts, including a drone, flew over Lebanon on Thursday.

There has been a mounting war of words between the Party of God and ‘Israel' in recent months with Hizbullah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah vowing to "destroy ‘Israel'" in any new conflict.

‘Israeli' cabinet ministers also have warned that Lebanon's civilian infrastructure could be targeted in any new war, now that the Hizbullah-led opposition has secured veto powers in the national unity government.
