Former MP Mohsen Dalloul said on Monday that the meeting between Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and Future Movement leader MP Saad Hariri was strategic and aimed to reconcile between both parties, and might alleviate the differences between Damascus and Riyadh.
In an interview with the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Rai, he added that the parliamentary elections in 2009 will organize the disagreement between Hizbullah and Future and expected that the reconciliation among Christians would not be forged before the elections.
He said that MP Hariri's performance was great and expressed that he was not satisfied with those surrounding Hariri.
He added that Deputy Egyptian Intelligence Chief Omar Qinawi also had security objectives as well as wanting to push Egyptian attempts at regaining its central diplomatic role, especially after the speech of Foreign Minister Ahmad Abu al-Gheit during his last visit to Beirut on security information in North Lebanon and Tripoli.
He said that the Egyptian efforts to bring Saudi-Syrian opinions together failed.
He also said that those who were calling for establishing diplomatic ties between Lebanon and Syria will regret it later on.
