Syrian Minister: Syria Unlikely to Disengage with Iran, Hizbullah
Source: Al-Manar TV, 22-11-2008
Syria responded once again to all "suspicious" rumours circulating here and there about its readiness to surrender and offer "compromises" to achieve the so-called "peace" with the Zionist entity at the expense of the Arab cause and the national Resistance movements in the region.
Indeed, Syrian Information Minister Bilal Mohsen was more than clear when he declared on Saturday that Syria is unlikely to end engagement with Iran and Hizbullah in return for peace.
Speaking to pan-Arab daily As-Sharq al-Awsat, Mohsen "reversed" the version and wondered whether the United States would disengage with the Zionist entity. "But no one asked the United States to disconnect from ‘Israel'," he said.
The Syrian Minister renewed support for the neighbor Lebanon, recalling that Damascus had interest in Lebanon's security, stability and unity. "Some Lebanese do no love Syria and there is nothing we can do about it," he admitted, but quickly added that Syria considers this "a part of democracy."
Meanwhile, Mohsen revealed that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, as a current Arab Summit President, intends to visit all Arab capitals with no exception. He stressed that Syria was not responsible for divergence among Arabs.
