The local Corporation for Yemen’s Water and Sewerage in al-Baidha Governorate warned against stopping the pumping of drinking water due to the depletion of fuel, which endangers the lives of Yemeni citizens.

The Director General of the Corporation, Ali Al-Sharif, warned that the detention of fuel ships threatens to stop all water wells belonging to the Corporation, and to supply citizens with drinking water, which threatens the spread of diseases and epidemics.

In a statement, the Corporation condemned the continued detention of oil derivative ships, stressing that the suspension of work will lead to the spread of diseases and epidemics, and threaten an environmental pollution disaster.

The statement added that the continued detention of fuel vessels affecting the performance of water institutions, and the work of operating wells and water pumping stations. It called on the international community, the United Nations, also humanitarian and human rights organizations to work to lift the blockade and stop the aggression, as well as allow the entry of oil products, food and medicine.
