Lebanon’s daily coronavirus cases dropped to 145, and the country registered five deaths over the past 24 hours on Sunday, as the Health Ministry stepped-up vaccination campaign having now partially or fully inoculated more than 10 percent of the population.
The new cases bring the total number of coronavirus infections in Lebanon since the virus was first detected in the country in February 2020 to 540,277 along with a total of 7,723 deaths. Out of Sunday's figures, seven cases were detected among travelers arriving in Lebanon.
The daily cases figure was the lowest recorded in the country since July 31 last year.
A further 10,626 first-dose vaccine jabs were administered during a walk-in AstraZeneca inoculation campaign Saturday, resulting in a total of 499,474 individuals who have received the jab, or 10.5 percent of the eligible population.
The Health Ministry also reported that 533 second-dose jabs were administered, bringing the total number of people in Lebanon who are now fully vaccinated to 244,442, some 5.1 percent of the eligible population.
