BEIRUT, Lebanon - A cluster bomb left over from last "Israel`s" war on Lebanon last year exploded Wednesday, wounding a Lebanese woman, the official National News Agency said.
Mariam Halawi, 35, was collecting herbs with her husband, Hussein Salame, in the southern village of Qaaqaiyet al-Jisr when the bomb went off, the agency said. She was rushed to hospital where her left leg was amputated, it said.
At least 28 people have been killed by cluster bombs and land mine explosions in Lebanon since the 34-day war between "Israel" and Hizbullah, the occupation-resistance movement, ended in a U.N.-brokered cease-fire on Aug. 14.
The United Nations and human rights groups charge "Israel" dropped about 4 million cluster bomblets during the summer fighting. U.N. ordinance clearing experts say that up to 1 million failed to explode.
