Hanieh slams world΄s silence about Gaza
Source: Press TV, 11-12-2008
The Hamas Prime Minister has criticized the international community for 'idly watching the "Israeli" crimes' against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
Ismail Hanieh called on world leaders to put an end to '"Israel's" crimes' committed against people in the coastal region.
"Israel" carries out regular attacks on the territory and it has imposed a crippling economic blockade against almost 1.5 million people in Gaza. It has sealed off all border crossings with the Gaza Strip since last month.
The blockade led to the lack of fuel for the sole power plant of the populated territory, which could result in a complete blackout.
Foreign Minister and leader of the ruling Kadima Party Tzipi Livni said earlier that Tel Aviv should act "militarily, economically and politically" to weaken Hamas in the region. She said the "Israeli" government should take any necessary step, including military action to topple the Hamas government.
War Minister Ehud Barak has also said that the military is waiting for the right moment to act against Hamas in Gaza. He will hand over a paper to the cabinet on Sunday, presenting possible options against the territory.
