Hizbullah warns "Israel" against using rockets as pretext to attack Lebanon
12-01-2009
NABATIYEH: Hizbullah warned "Israel" over the weekend against using the recent rockets' attack on northern "Israel" as a pretext to spark conflict with Lebanon. Speaking before a mass of Hizbullah supporters who rallied in the southern town of Nabatiyeh, MP Mohammad Raad said his group was ready to react forcefully in the event of an "Israeli" attack.
Three Katyusha rockets were fired into "Israel" from southern Lebanon on Thursday, sparking fears of renewed conflict between Hizbullah and "Israel".
But Hizbullah denied any responsibility for the attack which wounded two settlers.
"Israel" responded to the attack by shelling the area from which the attack was conducted.
Raad said his group would not be dragged into any conflict unless it decides otherwise.
"We are prepared for all scenarios, but we will not allow "Israel" to provoke us and drag us into what we don't want or what we don't decide ourselves," he said.
"However, if ‘Israel' decides to attack, it will be faced by stronger resistance than it has ever faced or imagined," he added.
Tens of thousands of people took part in a Hizbullah-organized protest against "Israel's" offensive in the Gaza Strip.
Demonstrators waved yellow Hizbullah flags and Palestinian flags as they marched through the streets of Nabatiyeh city.
"The ‘Israeli' aggression and invasion of Gaza will reaffirm once again the hatred the people of Arab and Muslim regions have for the American administration that allowed the bloodshed and supported the ‘Israeli' enemy," Raad emphasized.
