Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri slammed on Monday the recent comments made by the so-called March 14 bloc on the army's position following the rocket-launching incident from South Lebanon into northern occupied Palestine as an aggression on the army.

On Friday, the so-called March 14 Secretariat General questioned the harmony of the Lebanese Army communiqué with the Lebanese official state policy over the rocket-launching incident. It was commenting on a statement in which the army declared that "the launching of the rockets coincided with the ‘Israeli' artillery shelling."

Speaking to Lebanese daily As-Safir, Berri said that the March 14 statement was tantamount to an aggression on the Army. "This is a red line," Berri said.
"I shall not remain silent," the Speaker announced, adding that safeguarding the army and protecting it was a national duty "after we fought the whole world in order to build our national army." Berri reiterated the readiness to wade into the Lebanese Army battle, pointing to the symbolic values represented by the military institution.

Meanwhile, Berri stressed that the resistance's steadfastness in Gaza "will draw a new equation in the region." He noted that the war has entered its third week, "but if the Resistance could pass it with the same strong steadfastness, the offensive would be thwarted, and then, the whole equation will change." Berri stressed that the "third war" on Gaza, which came after the wars of 1948 and 1967, seeks to end the Resistance choice in the whole region and, therefore, to end the Palestinian cause.

The Lebanese Speaker also called Monday on the parliament to convene Saturday noon, when United National Secretary General Ban Ki-moon is to deliver a speech on the current situation in Gaza.
