Qassem: Gaza war calls for enhancing the Resistance’s role in defense strategy
Source: nowlebanon.com, 14-01-2009
Hizbullah Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem said that "Israel's" war in the Gaza Strip "aims to achieve two goals: either terminating the Resistance or pushing the [Palestinian people] to lose hope in it."
In a speech before the faculty of law at the Lebanese University campus in Hadath on Wednesday, Qassem said that "these goals are meant to close the Palestinian case for good and with its closure the whole region would fall into the hands of ["Israel" and the US] in line with the new Middle East project."
"The results [of the region's fall] will reflect on Lebanon and the region because the [common] issues are intertwined," he said, before adding that "what is happening in Gaza affects the [national] defense strategy because it calls for enhancing the Resistance. If there was no resistance in Gaza, it wouldn't have confronted the ‘Israeli' aggression and the coming days will prove that it [the Resistance] will win."
