Iran's president has proposed several possible solutions for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict at an international summit in Tehran.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called for the formation of an international front against Zionism that strives to bring the criminal leaders of the Zionist movement to justice for their oppression of the Palestinian people.

Speaking at the first day of a conference in Tehran in support of Palestinians on Wednesday, he stressed that in his opinion the only way to solve the ‘Israeli'-Palestinian conflict is to respect the rights of all Palestinians whether they reside in their homeland or in any other part of the world.

His remarks were a tacit suggestion that the world needs to allow exiled Palestinians to return to their homeland - ‘Israel'.

The ‘Israeli'-Palestinian conflict began in 1948 when leaders of the Zionist movement won the support of colonial European countries and the US to establish a 'pure Jewish state' under the Zionist slogan of a 'land without a people and a people without a land'.

European leaders and Zionist officials justified the colonization of Palestine as the only way out of the massive wave of anti-Semitism that hit the Europe in the early 20th century.

Zionists benefited by gaining power over the native land of the Palestinians, but the establishment and the subsequent terror attacks against the Palestinian population gave rise to the philosophy of resistance and in recent years armed retaliation.

Many Palestinians were forced from the land as part of an ‘Israeli' expulsion campaign that demolished thousands of houses and saw the wide-scale massacre of Palestinians.

The Iranian president also proposed that residents of the occupied land participate in a referendum held of all walks of life to determine their own fate and resolve the problem.

"All Palestinians including Muslims, Christians and the Jews, should hold a free referendum and establish a democratic government in Palestine," he said.

According to President Ahmadinejad, the support of world leaders for ‘Israel' has stonewalled peace for the Palestinians.

Some Arab leaders provoked outrage among the people of the Middle East by either remaining silent on the plight of the Palestinians or aiding and abetting ‘Israel' in its 60-year oppression of the Palestinian population.

'Israel' carried out major military operations in Gaza in December and January, killing nearly 1,350 Palestinians and injuring around 5,450 others. Tel Aviv employed white phosphorous bombs, classified as a 'chemical weapon' by the US intelligence, in the war.

Although ‘Israel' has ended its major operations in Gaza, it continues to stage air strikes on the strip and to enforce a 20-month blockade on the sliver of land.

Ahmadinejad, who is famous for his fierce criticism of ‘Israel', also downplayed the efficiency of the UN Security Council in solving disputes, saying it has no control over the advocates of Zionism and thus cannot benefit security and secure the interests of nations.

The United Nations had played a major role in the birth of ‘Israel' by recognizing the occupation of Palestine by acquisitive terrorist groups in the 1950s.

Ahmadinejad also referred to the US president and said statesmen "who came to power under the motto of change" are obliged to implement change by promoting peace and stability, calling on the White House to end its support for Tel Aviv.

The Iranian capital of Tehran is plays host to a two-day international conference titled Palestine: Manifestation of Resistance, Gaza: Victim of Crimes. The confab focuses on ‘Israeli' crimes and crimes against humanity committed in the three-week military campaign in the Gaza Strip (December, 2008 to January, 2009).
