Islamic Group Leader Martyred in “Israeli” Airstrike South of Beirut

By Staff, Agencies
An "Israeli" airstrike on Lebanon targeted a vehicle in the Bawarta area, near Naameh, south of Beirut, on Tuesday morning, resulting in the martyrdom of Sheikh Hussein Atwi, a senior leader in the al-Fajr Forces.
According to reports, the strike directly targeted Atwi's vehicle. He was a prominent figure in the al-Fajr Forces, the military wing of the Lebanese Islamic Group.
Atwi had previously survived an "Israeli" assassination attempt in January 2024, which took place on the road to Kawkaba, a town in southern Lebanon.
The latest strike marks a continuation of targeted aggressions by "Israeli" forces against figures associated with Palestinian and Lebanese Islamic Resistance groups, in violation of the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon.
This airstrike comes amid ongoing "Israeli" attacks on Lebanon. Two days prior, another "Israeli" drone strike targeted a car on the outskirts of Kawthriyat al-Siyad, resulting in one martyr and two injuries.
Additionally, a separate "Israeli" attack claimed the life of another individual when two missiles struck the al-Deir neighborhood in the town of Houla, South Lebanon.
The escalation in airstrikes highlights the continued violence effected by "Israel" in Lebanon.
