The “Israeli” entity launched a large-scale wave of airstrikes across Syria late Friday night, targeting multiple areas in the countryside of Damascus, Daraa and Hama.

Local reports confirmed at least 20 strikes, including on an old Syrian army camp near Shatha village in Hama, a battalion headquarters north of Damascus, and various military camps in Daraa province.

Explosions were reported over Damascus and its suburbs, including Harasta, where a civilian was confirmed killed. “Israeli” media outlets noted that some of the targeted locations in Damascus were hit for the first time.

The attacks come amid growing instability following the collapse of President Bashar al-Assad’s government in December, which has left southern Syria vulnerable to widespread “Israeli” occupation.

Hundreds of airstrikes have since targeted former Syrian army infrastructure, intensifying the entity’s military presence across the region.

Earlier on Friday, “Israeli” warplanes reportedly struck near the Syrian presidential palace in Damascus, marking the second round of aggression this week. The attacks coincided with silence from the ruling Hayat Tahrir al-Sham [HTS] administration, which now governs large areas in northern and southern Syria.

“Israeli” authorities attempted to frame the latest attacks as support for the Druze community, which is currently clashing with HTS-aligned militants near Damascus. However, analysts point out that the Druze historically supported the Assad government and have long opposed “Israeli” occupation, particularly in the Golan Heights.

Meanwhile, “Israeli” War Minister Israel Katz stated on Sunday that “Israel” intends to maintain its military presence in southern Lebanon and Syria “indefinitely”.

Further raising tensions, Lebanon’s Al Mayadeen TV reported Thursday that “Israel” is building two new military outposts in the Damascus countryside, facing the Hasbaya district of southern Lebanon.

Despite the increasing aggression, HTS leader Abu Mohammad Al-Julani has made repeated overtures to the occupying regime. US Congressman Cory Mills told Bloomberg last Thursday that during his recent visit to Damascus, Jolani expressed his desire to normalize relations with “Israel” and even delivered a letter addressed to President Donald Trump.
