Statement issued by Hezbollah regarding the visit to the Papal Ambassador in Lebanon to offer condolences on the death of Pope Francis, the head of the Catholic Church.

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

A delegation from Hezbollah, which included the official for Christian relations, Hajj Mohammad Al-Khansa, and Dr. Ahmad Mohanna, visited the Papal Ambassador in Lebanon to offer condolences on the death of Pope Francis, the head of the Catholic Church.

The delegation praised the Pope's positions in support of the Palestinian cause, his condemnation of the "Israeli" aggression and its crimes in the Gaza Strip, as well as his solidarity with Lebanon and its people throughout various stages—particularly during the recent war—and his role in promoting interfaith dialogue.

The discussion also touched on the general situation in Lebanon and the need for cooperation and dialogue among the Lebanese to support the current presidential term on its path toward reform, to end the "Israeli" occupation of all Lebanese territory, to stop repeated violations and assaults on Lebanon and its people, to secure the release of prisoners, and to initiate reconstruction efforts.
