Major General Aroldo Lázaro, the Head of Mission and Force Commander of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon [UNIFIL], has warned of a “fragile stability” in southern Lebanon, persisting since the agreement to halt hostilities on November 27,2024.
He further noted that UNIFIL has supported the Lebanese Army in redeploying across more than 120 permanent positions in the south, in addition to several temporary posts.
“The mission has also transferred approximately 225 weapons and ammunition caches to the Lebanese Army,” according to Lázaro.
“The primary obstacle to the full deployment of the Lebanese Army in the south is the “Israeli” occupation and the ongoing “‘Israeli’ activities” in the area,” Lázaro underlined.
