Libyan Defense Ministry Declares End of Tripoli Military Op.

By Staff, Agencies
The Libyan Ministry of Defense, aligned with the provisional Government of National Unity, announced the “successful completion” of a recent military operation in the capital, Tripoli, according to local outlet Al-Wasat.
However, the ministry did not disclose any details regarding the nature, objectives, or outcomes of the operation.
The announcement came shortly after reports of intense armed clashes in Tripoli, reportedly triggered by the killing of Abdulghani al-Kikli, the head of the Presidential Council’s Stability Support Apparatus.
The United Nations Support Mission in Libya [UNSMIL] responded by urging an immediate end to hostilities and the restoration of calm in the capital. It reiterated its call on all involved parties to uphold their obligations under international humanitarian law, particularly regarding the protection of civilians. UNSMIL warned that “attacks targeting civilians or civilian infrastructure may constitute war crimes.”
While the situation in Tripoli appears to have de-escalated for now, concerns remain high over the potential for renewed violence and instability in a country still recovering from years of conflict. The UN and international stakeholders continue to monitor the situation closely.
